After weeks of hard work and countless challenges, we're finally making serious progress on our slide out kitchen 4x4 installation! This episode shows the real struggles of van building - from dealing with unlevel Queensland ground (5 degrees out on one side!) to precision-fitting our 90-liter King's fridge freezer into our custom cabinetry.
Watch as we tackle the complexities of mounting our kitchen framework on seriously uneven terrain. We couldn't find level ground anywhere - not even at the local Coles car park 3.5km away! Despite the challenges, we've managed to get our measurements within just 1-3 millimeters variance across most sections.
Our slide out kitchen 4x4 design features a clever dual-compartment setup with the fridge sitting proud of the other components for easy access. We're installing custom sliding table runners and planning bench seating with integrated storage drawers. The electrical setup is getting sorted with planning for GPO mounting beside the dry goods area, complete with circuit breakers for safety.

Every mounting point needed adjustment, and we've had to get creative with our bracket positioning and washer spacing to ensure everything sits flush.
Coming up next, we'll be tackling the bench seat construction and drawer installation. The plan is to have the bottom level featuring bench seating, followed by two drawer levels on each side for maximum storage efficiency in our compact van kitchen setup.
This van conversion project continues to test our problem-solving skills, but seeing the slide out kitchen 4x4 taking shape makes all the effort worthwhile. From measuring and remeasuring to dealing with Brisbane's challenging terrain, every step brings us closer to our dream mobile kitchen setup.
